IT Sligo says it had no option but to take threat to students seriously

Gardai are continuing their investigations at IT Sligo into an incident in which a unsigned handwritten note threatening students was left in a computer laboratory.

As of now, the garda assessment is that there is no viable threat.

The incident happened about 10 to 12 days ago.

An Institute spokesman told Ocean FM News they had no option but to take the threat seriously.

It’s understood the threat was not directed at any particular nationality or group but at other classmates.

An IT statement says the safety and security of its students is paramount, and all appropriate security arrangemetns are in place.

It adds that the Institute continues to consult with the gardai on a daily basis.
