Donegal TD hopes to see HSE investment in key areas



A Donegal TD says the party will work to ensure those who need medical cards can keep them.

Fianna Fail TD Charlie McConologue has been reacting the to HSE Service Plan for 2017 which is published today.

It outlines that fewer medical cards will be available while more GP visit cards would be provided.

It also makes a committment to reducing the Emergency Department waiting times by 5% in 2017.

It comes as there has been very high numbers on trolleys at Letterkenny University Hospital with 18 people on trolleys today and a further 21 waiting in Sligo.

Deputy McConologue says while he has yet to study the document in detail, he hopes the investment will take place at the ‘pressure points’ within the health service:
