A consultant psychiatrist is warning that ‘psycho-active’ substances such as fake tan can have a damaging effect on the mental health of young people.
Dr Eamon Keenan, HSE consultant pyschiatrist in substance misuse was speaking at a Dual Diagnosis conference organised by Sinn Fein in Sligo on Friday.
Dual Diagnosis is when a person suffers from both a substance abuse problem and another mental health issue.
Moves are now underway to treat both together instead of separately, as has been the case up to now.
