Fianna Fail TD wants more Gardai assigned to Donegal after graduation



A Donegal Dail deputy says he will be insisting when the next group of garda recruits graduate from Templemore that some of them are assigned to Donegal.

Fianna Fail deputy Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher was speaking after discovering that of the 145 new gardai who graduated last month, none of them were sent to Donegal.

Five were assigned to the Sligo/Leitrim area.

Deputy Gallagher says there were 488 gardai in Donegal in 2009 but at the end of August this year, it had fallen to 387.

He says this is sending out the wrong message to the people of the county:
