More and more students going to college



More and more Students in state-funded schools are continuing with their education to third level.

That’s according to a breakdown on feeder schools today.

In Donegal, for example, Colaiste na gCarraige has the highest progression rate to third level according to the statistics in today’s papers, followed by the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal town.

In Leitrim, Ballinamore Community College has the highest number of pupils progressing to third level followed by the Vocational School in Carrigallen.

In Sligo, Summerhill College in Sligo tops the list followed by St. Attracta’s School in Tubbercurry.

The Institutes of Technology in Letterkenny and Sligo remain the most popular choices for the majority of students in the north west.

However, nationally the figures show that while more State-funded students are continuing with their education after secondary level, places in high points courses are still dominated by private schools.
