A major celebration will take place next weekend in Riverstown, Co Sligo.

It’s to mark the 75th anniversary of the building of the Sacred Heart Church in the parish.

It was opened and dedicated on December 7th 1941, in the midst of World War One.

They include a procession starting at 11:30am from the site of what was the old church in Riverstown to the present church, to arrive for Mass at 12 noon, the chief concelebrant of which will be the Bishop of Elphin, Kevin Doran.
