A papal visit to Sligo has not been ruled out, according to the Independent Councillor Marie Casserly.
It was confirmed yesterday that Pope Francis will be visiting Ireland in August 2018 as part of the World Celebration of Families.
Last year, Sligo county council was the first local authority in Ireland to invite the Pope to visit their locality.
The Mayor told Ocean FM she reminded the Pope’s representative to Ireland Archbishop Charles J Brown of the invitation following an event in Sligo yesterday.
