Fitzmaurice says farmers face ‘astronomical’ costs to take part in schemes



An Independent TD has hit out at the costs to farmers who are participating in various schemes, such as GLAS.

Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice has described the costs involved — and which farmers have to pay — as astromonical.

And he has called on the government to investigate Teagasc, agricultural planners and vets who, he said, are charging huge sums for work associated with the schemes.

He says it’s making people who aren’t farmers richer.

He outlined his concerns to Ocean FM News:
