Tubbercurry and Drumshanbo come runners-up at Pride of Place



Tubbercurry in county Sligo was a runner-up at the Pride of Place awards in Belfast over the weekend.

The all-Ireland competition was set up in 2003 to recognise the vital contributions voluntary groups and individuals make to their local community and the award ceremony took place in Belfast on Saturday.

Tubbercurry came runner up in the towns with a population of between one and two thousand people as being a wonderful place to live.

The main award in that category was won by Borris in county Carlow.

There were also two awards for county Leitrim: Drumshanbo Community Council was runner up in the community enterprise business category.

Carrick-on-Shannon was runner up in the population of two to five thousand people
