Donegal Gardai ask businesses to be aware of ongoing scams

Donegal Gardai have issued a warning to businesses across the county and the north west region to be aware of ongoing scams.

It’s alleged that foreign nationals are entering shops across South Donegal and confusing cashiers before making off with sums of money.

Sergeant Paul Wallace is the crime prevention officer with Donegal Gardai and he has warned that businesses need to be aware of anybody looking to change large amounts of money into smaller denominations.

He’s also urged business owners to check that all money crossing their counter is legitimate and not counterfit in the run up to Christmas.

Sergeant Wallace told Ocean FM what businesses are most at risk.
