There is a yellow weather alert in place for Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal as temperatures are set to plunge tonight.
The north west can expect icy lows of between minus 4 and minus 6 degrees with freezing fog in the area also.
Met Eireann have issued the warning from 7pm this evening to 10am tomorrow morning.
Pat Clarke from Met Eireann says with freezing temperatures and fog people need to take care on the roads.
