Donegal TD welcomes commitment to review seasonal workers rights

A Donegal Dail deputy has welcomed a commitment from the Minister for Social Protection to start a review of the rights and entitlements of seasonal and part time workers for social welfare benefits.

Fianna Fail TD Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher says the current regulations and criteria are impacting on the livelihoods of many workers and families whose ordinary employment is seasonal.

Deputy Gallagher says this issue is of particular concern in places such as Killybegs in County Donegal, where there are many part time workers in the fishing, tourism and farming sectors.

He told Ocean FM News how the present system is causing problems for these workers.
