Mother pleads for information following inquest



The mother of 23-year old Sligo man Sam Smith who died after being shot eleven years ago has made a heartful plea for anyone with information to come forward.

Mary Smith made the request after an inquest into his death in Sligo yesterday afternoon returned a verdict of unlawful killing.

The inquest heard he died as a result of gun shot wounds to the stomach and arm, leading to extensive internal damage and blood loss.

Mr. Smith was killed in his home after responding to a knock on the front door.

Nobody has ever been convicted for the killing.

Mrs. Smith and other family members told reporters after the inquest that they know who is responsible.
