An inquest is to take place this afternoon into the death almost 10 years ago of a 23-year old man who was shot in Sligo and later died from his injuries.
Sam Smith was fatally wounded when he answered the front door of his sister’s house in Cranmore.
He died from his injuries the following day in hospital.
There were reports at the time that Smith was killed by a well-known local criminal.
Nobody has been convicted for the killing.
Today’s inquest is scheduled to start at 2pm in Sligo Courthouse.
