Leitrim Councillor calls for even distribution of development funding



There are concerns that north Leitrim is not getting its fair share of rural development funding.

Fianna Fail Councillor Justin Warnock called for the money to be divided equally between the three municipal districts in the county.

This would mean the greater north Leitrim area would get around €1.6m.

However, the Council said that the funding is allocated on a needs basis and it would not be an acceptable strategy to divide it by area.

The programme is currently open for expressions of interest and it aims to support rural development through local projects.

Councillor Warnock says it’s disappointing but he’s hoping the submissions from the north of the county will be successful:
