Special Olympics heroes to turn on Sligo Christmas Lights this Friday



Sligo Town will see more Christmas lights this year than ever before according to the group in charge.

The Sligo Business Improvement District have this year taken over the care of the Christmas lights and decorations in the county town.

Over 40 panels of lights and a dozen Christmas trees will be lit up from this Friday evening.

Other towns in the north west are also switching on their lights in the coming days and weeks.

The lights in Sligo will be turned on by Special Olympics gold medal winners Margaret Carr and Thomas Connolly at 5.30 this Friday.

Finbar Filan of the Sligo BID group told Ocean FM the whole of Sligo town is included this year.
