Gardai are urging motorists to slow down on their journeys this morning in light of freezing temperatures.
They warn there is black ice on many non-national roads.
Main routes are gritted but they are urging care on local roads.
There is also a weather warning until nine am this morning by Met Eireann of freezing fog in many areas.
