An amendment to the seasonal and part time workers social welfare entitlement brought forward by a Donegal TD has been adopted.
The amendment from Fianna Fail deputy Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher was adopted in principal at the committee stage of the Social Welfare Bill 2016.
He says that seasonal workers in Donegal are having difficulty accessing social welfare once their seasonal or part time job ceases.
Deputy Gallagher confirmed to Ocean FM that the minister for social protection Leo Varadkar has given an undertaking to revert back to the committee concerning the issues raised.
Pat ‘The Cope’ addressed the committee in person and has welcomed the undertaking of his amendment.
