PSNI investigating attack on prominent priest’s home

The PSNI is investigating an attack on the home near Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, of prominent longtime civil and human rights campaigner Fr Joe McVeigh.

A number of windows in the priest’s house, in Lisbellaw, about five miles, from Enniskillen, were smashed in the attack.

He was not in the house at the time.

Fr McVeigh was prominent recently during the anti-Brexit campaign.

Fr. McVeigh told Ocean FM News today that the PSNI is investigating the incident and that they have described it as a sectarian ‘hate’ crime.

However, Fr McVeigh says he does not believe it’s in any way connected with the Brexit campaign.

The attack has been condemned by former Bundoran Sinn Fein town councillor Michael McMahon.
