Rural Ireland is open for business.
That’s the message that will be going out this evening from a public gathering in Ballygawley, Co Sligo, where a large turnout is expected calling the village’s post office to be kept open.
The service is being reviewed following the recent death of the postmaster there.
Post offices have recently been closed in Geevagh and Ballintogher, with the result more people have been using the post office in Ballygawley.
Local Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says it’s important rural areas make their voices heard.
This evening’s gathering will start from 5:30, outside the post office.
