Quota cuts hit Ownea salmon fishery in Donegal



Donegal fishermen are criticising a quota cut to the Ownea wild salmon fishery located near Ardara.

Local fisherman and political activist Liam Whyte says the shared quota between anglers and commercial fishermen has been slashed by almost 40%.

He adds that at present, commercial fishermen have little or no input into salmon management.

He is now calling on Inland Fisheries Ireland to initiate an open dialogue between fishermen and anglers to decide on the best way forward.
