Post office decision due in three weeks

The future of the post office in Ballygawley, Co Sligo, will be decided in three weeks time.

That’s according to the Public Affairs Manager with An Post, Angus Laverty.

In response to queries from Ocean FM News, Mr Laverty said the post master in Ballygawley had died last month and there was now a vacant contract.

He explained that in such a situation, the issue is put out to public consultation to determine how post office services should be provided in the area.

He told Ocean FM News the period of consultation will last three weeks after which time a decision will be made on the future of the post office in Ballygawley.

People can make submissions to An Post before the 2nd of December.

A petition is being collected online and at the post office itself and shop in Ballygawley.
