Efforts ongoing to secure funding for victims of farm accidents



Efforts are ongoing to secure funding for a mentoring programme for victims of farm accidents.

It’s all part of the work to the EMBRACE group which was set up in to support families who have lost a loved one to a farm accident.

It also aims to support people who have themselves survived a farm accident.

Aengus Mannion from Sligo is one such person.

He survived a horrific farm accident in Meath in 2009 when he was working on a farm there.

He says one of the main things about farm safety is that people are often alone on the farm carrying out work.

He now works with EMBRACE to try and support other people affected by farm accidents – he says it’s after people leave the hospital and go home that they need the support:
