Five call outs for Donegal fire services on halloween

Emergency fire services in the north west had a quiet Halloween this year with just five call outs reported.

Both Leitrim and Sligo fire services received no calls for Halloween related fires.

In Donegal there were five call outs to bonfires in Letterkenny, Stranorlar, Moville and two in Carndonagh.

All three fire services confirmed the number of call outs to be normal for the time of year.

Nationally there was thousands of calls reported by fire services with Dublin fire brigade answering 872 calls between midday yesterday and 6am this morning, an increase of more than a 100 calls on last year while the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service reported its busiest Halloween in six years.

Speaking to Ocean FM senior fire officer with Leitrim county council Finian Joyce said the people of the north west obviously listened to halloween safety advice.
