There was disappointment for our girls U16 footballers in the county ‘A’ championship final last Thursday night when a spirited second-half display came up just short against Tourlestrane on a final scoreline of 2-12 to 3-4. It was an enthralling contest and, despite the result, the team can be justifiably proud of their second-half comeback and never-say-die attitude throughout the hour. Players: Megan Byrne, Caitlin Greene, Faye Hennigan, Sadhbh McCarthy, Sarah Kisby, Sinéad Regan (Capt 0-1), Aisling O’Reilly, Tara Donohoe (0-1), Ella McDermott, Molly Brady (0-1), Megan Brady, Eimear Colreavy, Eve Scanlon, Carol Ann Monaghan, Grace Casserly. Subs: Sophie McDonagh (1-0), Aoife McLoughlin (2-0), Alannagh Gallagher, Oda Carty (0-1), Lisa Morrow, Lily Rose Leydon, Keela Scanlon, Lorraine Oates, Rachel Quigley, Ava Harte, Kate Keyes, Zara Mulrooney. The club wishes Ava Harte a speedy recovery following an injury sustained in a schools match last week.
Our U21 footballers also made their championship exit after they lost their concluding group match to St Molaise Gaels by 3-13 to 1-14.
The boys U14 footballers enjoyed a memorable Halloween overnight trip to the Clonduff GAA club in county Down over the bank-holiday weekend.. The team played an exhibition match under lights against our host club, and then joined in the Clonduff Halloween festivities which included a fireworks display. Our thanks to all the parents who travelled with us.
Well done to the Rathcormac NS and Rosses Point NS boys and girls teams who took part in the mini-sevens tournament in Oxfield last Thursday. The Rathcormac NS teams have both qualified for the next stage of the competition.
