Rosina Gallagher named Donegal New York person of the year

The Donegal New York Association held their annual gala dinner on Saturday nigt in the Big Apple and Gweedore native Rosina Gallagher was named the Donegal New York person of the year.

After many years service, it took the association a number of goes to convince Gallagher to accept the recognition

The network created by Irish people in New York, particularly those part of the Donegal diaspora, is very important for those who travel to America.

Talk of political changes and life back home dominate the annual dinner, with the election of a new American president a hot topic.

Immigration and illegal immigrants in the US has become an election issue between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton and Rosina believes Ireland is becoming somewhat of a Tir na nOg for Irish Americans who cannot travel home.
