€20m greenway plans for south and west Donegal

There are plans to develop greenways and walkways throughout Donegal that would result in investment of almost 90 million euro in the county.

Up to 20 million of that would be in greeway and walkway projects in south and west Donegal.

It’s all part of the North West Greenway Develoment Action Plan.

The objective is to promote special routes for walkers, cyclists along old railway lines and lightly used roads and trails.

Projects include the Barnesmore Greenway from Ballybofey to Donegal Town, the Donegal Town to Killybegs Greenway, the Donegal Town to Ballyshannon Greenway, the Bundoran to Belleek Greenway via Ballyshannon, the Ballybofey to Glenties Greenway and the Dungloe to Glenties Greenway.

Donegal Fianna Fail Councillor Patrick McGowan tells Ocean FM what it’s hoped will be achieved by developing the proposed routes:
