A major event showcasing excellence in the health service is taking place in Sligo today.
It’s the 2016 Health Service Excellence Awards which opens in the Radisson Hotel this morning.
Eighty-nine projects were submitted from the West.
The event acknowledges the excellent work in acute hospitals and community health services throughout the border and western communties from Donegal to Limerick.
The overall winner is a joint project between the Ophthalmology Service at Sligo University Hospital and colleagues working within the Sligo/Leitrim community health organisation area.
