It’s National Nursing Home Celebration week and to celebrate there are a number of events taking place in Sligo and across the North West.
Events including a sports day, barbeque and a reminiscing morning will take place at Nursing Homes in the region.
Nursing homes across the country will also bringing residents, their family and friends, and staff together to watch the Ireland games through celebratory events.
Over 40 nursing home residents aged 100 or older during this special commemorative year will also be presented with a special gift by their nursing home.
It features a copy of the proclamation and certificate of commendation. The oldest recipient will be turning 106 later this month
