A Sligo Leitrim TD has hit out at what he says are increases of more than 60 per cent in insurance costs for motorists in the past two years.
Speaking on a motion he proposed in the Dail, Deputy Marc MacSharry highlighted how people in rural Ireland — including young people — are particularly affected as they depend on their own transport because of the lack of public transport.
He says people are being priced out of the insurance market.
Deputy MacSharry outlined what his motion seeks to do.
