Doherty welcomes verdicts in Anglo trial

A Donegal TD has welcomed the guilty findings by a jury in the trial of former Anglo Irish Bank executives John Bowe from Dublin and Donegal native Willie McAteer.

They have been found guilty of criminal conspiracy at the end of what was the longest trial in the history of the State.

They were charged with conspiring to mislead investors. They had denied the charges.

Sinn Fein Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty also says the two convictions on a single charge, so many years after the banking crash, shows the weakness in prosecuting major white collar crime.
