Up to 12,000 family carers throughout Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal stand to benefit from the restoration of what was known as the Respite Care Grant.
It’s worth €1,700 a year to family carers.
However, many family carers who do not claim the grant are urged to do so by Family Carers Ireland.
