Funding for heritage projects in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal



The Heritage Council has announced funding for a number of heritage projects in the Northwest under its 2016 Community-based Heritage Grants Scheme.

A total of 171 heritage projects nationwide have been awarded funding under the scheme, which supports the continuing conservation and development of Irish heritage through local community based groups.

Seventeen Donegal based projects have been awarded funding including the restoration of the ruins at Kilbarron Castle and the Ballysaggart Friary restoration project.

In Sligo six projects received grants including Sligo Gaol which received a grant of €9,000. In Leitrim only one project was awarded funding which is the repair of Lurganboy Church totalling €8000.
