Family carers throughout the region are being urged to apply for the newly restored annual Carers Support Grant of €1,700.
The restored payments are expected to start being paid from this Thursday.
They weres previously known as Respite Care Grants.
They had been cut but the government announced in the last budget they would be restored.
Catherine Cox, of Family Carers Ireland, says many carers struggle to survive, and those not getting the grant should apply for it.
