PTSB closure to be felt across Donegal

A spokesperson for the Unite Trade Union says there will be a knock on affect felt across Donegal Town following reports today that the Permanent TSB branch is to close.

Its part of a major restructuring of the bank in total 16 Permanent TSB branches is to close over the next four years.

It has been suggested there will be job losses of between 195 and 250 staff overall but the UNITE trade union, which represents the vast majority of the more than 2,000 staff says they will seek to lessen the number of permanent positions lost.

Speaking to Ocean Fm news today, the National Co-coordinator with the UNITE Trade Union Walter Cullen says if the staff wish to remain working within Permanent TSB the company will have to accommodate them but Mr. Cullen says this may mean moving to another branch.
