Deegan to referee All-Ireland final

The GAA has confirmed the referees and match officials for the 2012 GAA Football All-Ireland Senior and Minor Championship finals on September 23 with Maurice Deegan taking charge of his second Senior decider. 

The Laois native will be the man in middle for the clash of Donegal and Mayo, while Barry Cassidy of Derry will officiate in the Minor game between Dublin and Meath. 

Maurice Deegan is no stranger to big match day occasions having refereed the All-Ireland Final between Kerry and Tyrone in 2008. 

The Stradbally clubman has also had a busy year in 2012 having taken charge of numerous provincial and qualifier games around the country as well as the Allianz Football League Division 1 Final. 

Meath’s David Coldrick will be the standby referee. The other linesman is Eddie Kinsella (Laois), while the sideline official will be Conor Lane (Cork).

His umpires on the day will be Kevin O’Brien (St Josephs, Laois), Sean Langton (St Josephs, Laois), Alan Abbey (Stradbally, Laois), Richard Oxley (Timahoe, Laois).

Barry Cassidy of Wolfe Tones, Bellaghy in Derry will take charge of the minor game. Already this year he has taken charge of numerous games at senior level including the Leinster GAA Football Senior Championship Quarter Final between Meath and Carlow.

The umpires for the minor game will be Kevin Torner (Bellaghy Wolfe Tones, Derry), Anthony Campbell (O’Donovan Rossa, Magherafelt), Tom O’Kane (St Malachy’s Castledawson), Alan Nash (Derry Trasna, Derry)
