Anti-sex trafficking campaign launched

Anti-sex trafficking campaigners are taking their message to the streets of Sligo.

Billboards depicting a girl as young as 14 entering prostitution, will be rolled out Sligo, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Waterford.

It's part of the  'Turn Off the Red Light' campaign which believes the best way to fight the trade is to end demand by making it an offence to pay for sex.

It aims to increase public support as a Government Consultation on the issue continues.

Niamh Wilson from the Domestic Abuse and Advocay Service in Sligo says she hopes this billboard located on John St, will raise public awarness.
