Funding of €1.2m for N4

Funding of 1.2 million euro has been approved for a section of road on the N4 between Castlebaldwin and Collooney in Sligo.

The funding will go towards improving the Ardloy bend, which has been described as extremely dangerous for motorists.

Sligo Fine Gael Cllr Gerard Mullaney says there's already been two fatal accidents in the area.

Sligo County Council are due to give proposals to the National Road Authority later this year on plans to upgrade the entire route which has been the cause of much controversy over the past number of years.

Cllr Mullaney says funding of half a million euro has also been allocated for the completion of the design of the single dual carriageway bypass.
