Gardai in Sligo have confirmed the discovery of a body off Coney island yesterday.
The discovery was made by members of the public.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the body has been removed to Sligo University Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
Gardai state efforts are ongoing to identify the person and ensure all relatives are informed before any further details are confirmed.
